The global leader in flash memory products, SanDisk, has announced what it claims to be the world's fastest microSDHC memory card, the SanDisk Extreme Pro microSDHC UHS-I, designed for use in SmartPhones and Tablets. While some SSDs claims speeds of up to 500MB/s, most tablets rely on a microSD for storing bulky items and the vast majority of microSDHC cards are limited to 25MB/s read or write.
SanDisk's new microSD cards feature UHS-I capability and are capable of delivering up to 90MB/s write, allowing for much quicker transfer of bulky items to the card, such as several movies to watch on the move. The card also features up to 95MB/s read for much quicker transfer of photos and video clips off the card. Like an SSD, the faster read and write performance improves multitasking performance especially with background data downloads.
The SanDisk Extreme Pro microSDHC UHS-I cards are available in a choice of 8GB and 16GB, with suggested retail prices of $59.99 and $99.99, respectively. The cards are also backwards compatible with microSDHC slots that lack UHS support.
