1 in 4 DVD recorders produced in Taiwan

According to this article over at DigiTimes. Taiwan will produce nearly a quarter of all the DVD recorders this year. Demand for the DVD recorders has been spurred by this year's Olympic Games.

Taiwan will produce an estimated three million DVD recorders this year and have a global market share of nearly 25%, second only to Japan, according to Market Intelligence Center (MIC).

I"m kind of suprised that a single TV event would have a significant effect on sales of DVD recorders. Go figure!
