According to a news published at Hexus, TDK announced a 200 GB Blu-ray disc prototype. This high capacity is obtained putting six 33.3GB layers on a single disc, so increasing not only the number of layers, but also the usual 25GB size associated with Blu-ray Disc media.
As for multilayer HD-DVD discs, however, it's not yet clear if current drives will be able to read these discs, but an interesting (declared) feature of these media is a scratch protection obtained with "hard-coating technology".
The picture shown in the article is not really clear, but I'm curious to know if this technology is really effective. As usual, feel free to discuss about these media on our forum.
