4x DVD+RW write speed in Sony's new dual format DVD writers

Sony has announced the successors to its popular DVD±R/RW writers during the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas. The main new features in the DRU-510A and DRX-510UL are the 4x DVD+RW write speed, 16x CD-RW write speed and 12x DVD-ROM read speed.

  • DVD+RW: 4X (max.) rewriting (DVD+RW) 4X (max.) reading
  • DVD-ROM (single layer): 12X (max.) reading
  • CD-R: 24X (max.) writing, 32X (max.) reading
  • CD-RW: 16X (max.) rewriting, 32X (max.) reading
  • CD-ROM: 32x (max)
  • Random access time: 160 ms (CD-ROM), 200 ms (DVD-ROM)
  • Buffer memory: 8 MB
  • Buffer under-run error protection technology: Sony Power-Burn™
  • Interface: DRU-510A: ATAPI (EIDE), DRX-510UL:     USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 (i.LINK)
