716-A 1.05 Firmware Released

released a new firmware for the 716A DVD-Writer. The update increases the speed
of DVD-R Dual Layer writing from 2x to 6x on Mitsubishi Media (Verbatim media).
On other brands the write speed of DVD-R dual layer media has been upped to 4x
from 2x.

Along with these added
features, improvements have been made to writing of +/-RW/R media and the
Auto-strategy feature of the drive has been improved.

The new media correspondence of
DVD+R/DVD-R/DVD+RW/DVD-RW/DVD+R DL(DVD+R/DVD-R includes the 16x

improvement of media. The record efficiency improvement of AutoStrategy.
The entry software to of DVD-R DL is announced, future, from each software
manufacturer way.

Looks like Plextor users have a lot to smile about at the moment from -R DL
feature being added to their drives to speed increases.
