While currently 8x DVD writers are established and
12x writers just being on sale, AOpen is going to progress to 16x speed. Unlike their current
model the AOpen DRW8800 which is a rebadged NEC ND-2500A, AOpen will manufacture
the new drive themselves.
and is completely build in AOpen's production plants. First pre-release drives will be available at the beginning of July, while mass production will start in mid July. |
Please don't mix up writing speeds. 16x will probably only be possible with
DVD+R, while double layer discs will probably be written at 2.4x, but
I wonder if 16x media will already be available in July as disc
manufacturers currently concentrate on creating double layer discs.
Feel free to discuss this drive in our Recording
Hardware Forum.
