AnandTech posts 4X to 12X DVD drive price guide

This is rather handy to view as it shows some pricing of the new 12x drives, at least we can see what they are going for in the US. Maybe it's a pretty good price jump to move up from an 8X DVD. All together, they price out the best deals on the Internet they could find for over 30 different drives. Below is a portion of their conclusion after looking around for pricing and combining that with their thoughts on some of the hardware they tested.

In the end, the average Joe who just wants to get their feet wet with DVD authoring shouldn't be spending in excess of 80 dollars for a burner. For this reason, the NuTech DDW-082, which earned our Editor's Choice award, deserves mention again as a great device at a very affordable price. NEC's 2500, which can be flashed easily to 2510 also sits well with us for its burn speed and ability to operate without creating excessive amounts of overpriced frisbees or coasters.

The NuTech they just mentioned can be found on the Internet for 65 bucks! Head on over to AnandTech to view the listings. Of course, you are welcome to discuss your opinion of these drives or speculate as to which is the best value, in our Recording Hardware Forum.
