The latest big name to become synonymous with Internet piracy is the De Niro/Crystal flick named "Analyze That", the follow-up to the 1999 comedy "Analyze This". Although "Analyze That" has an official release date of December 6, 2002, the movie became publicly available as early as November 30th, 2002 (possibly earlier). Reportedly, the movie is of fair visual and audio quality. |
With the growth of P2P networking, movies that would've stayed within IRC or Usenet have spread to the common user. By using more movie oriented networks such as FastTrack (commonly accessible through KaZaA) or eDonkey2000, the MPAA is finding itself in a similar situation to the RIAA. Even with the demise of Napster, copyright holders continue to find themselves befuddled, with no clear handle on the situation. However, the MPAA is at a clear advantage to the RIAA, as reproducing the theater experience is extremely difficult. Never-the-less, as DVD copiers, faster Internet access, higher quality files and larger hard drives become more common place, troubling times are ahead for the MPAA.
