MentholMoose and gabek both used our news submit to tell us that the folks over at Slysoft have just made available an update to AnyDVD that enables easier backups of the DVD film Madagascar to be made. Although this has been possible for some time with AnyDVD and Clone DVD, this version adds important new functionality that can be read in the history notes. Madagascar was the first film to have this new protection from Macrovision added to help thwart the ripping of this product for backup. Apparently, another DVD movie "Vet Hard" has been distributed with RipGuard as well, this time in the Netherlands.
For those who don't know, the AnyDVD program is a driver, which unprotects DVD movies automatically in the background. AnyDVD can be used to remove the various copy protections on DVDs and even audio or game CDs , it also makes the disc appear region free for all applications that you run in Windows! With AnyDVD's help, copy tools like CloneDVD, Pinnacle Instant Copy, InterVideo DVD-Copy, can then be used to copy CSS protected movies. Thus, re-enabling your legal right to create a backup of your purchases.
