Apple closes DRM leak in iTunes Music store

A few days ago we reported about DVD Jon who built some tools to download DRM free AAC files from the iTunes
Music Store
. You still had to buy your files, but you did not encounter any restrictions from DRM. Now it seems Apple reacted and closed this leak.

Recently it was possible to download music files without digital rights management, so you were able to create unlimited copies of these files. With a new security update, the iTunes Music store is only accessible with the latest version 4.7 of the iTunes software.

Apple found out about this security leak after the norwegian CSS hacker Jon Lech Johansen presented an alternative client "PyMusique" for the iTunes music store, that beside DRM free downloads also allowed redownloading already purchased files.

Let's see how long it takes until DVD Jon will be able to present a new version of his tool. As long as the files can be played somehow, someone will find a way to remove DRM protection. It's just a matter of time.
