GristyMcFisty used our news submit to tell us that Apple has hit a milestone with its Apple Ipod's by selling more than 10 million of the portable music players. Over four and a half million iPods have been sold in the last three months which has doubled the figures for the previous quarter. The three iPods the iPod, iPod mini and iPod photo supposedly account for more than 90% of all hard drive based disk players on the market and a whopping 65% combined total of both flash and hard drive based units.
One third of all digital music players sold are currently flash based and Apple has made sure to counteract this with its own flashed based iPod. The unveiled flash based iPods boast 512MB or 1GB of memory and are branded under the Apple iPod shuffle. The iPod shuffle will play all formats that its big brothers play including AAC and MP3.

Around a third of all players sold are flash-based and Apple has now taken on that market with the unveiling of the 512MB or 1GB iPod Shuffle. In common with the other iPods it will play MP3 and AAC files ripped from CD as well as songs bought from Apple"s iTunes Music Store. Apple has sold some 230 million songs through iTMS, claiming a market share of around 70 per cent. |
Looks like Apple will be enjoying some very good financial results this year.
