Apple launches it's first iTunes store in Australia

sidz used our news submit to tell us "Bout bloody time! Australia's meant to be on the
forefront of technological advances, but it still takes us well over a year to
get a simple online store open."

The
store has more than a million tracks from various artists. Songs are priced at $1.69 and videos at $3.39.

An Apple statement said most albums were
priced at $16.99 including GST.

Exclusive music featured today includes
tracks from Missy Higgins, Bernard Fanning, Paul Mac, Evermore, Gyroscope
and The Dissociatives.

Users can play songs on up to five
personal computers, burn a song to CD an unlimited number of times, burn
the same playlist up to seven times and listen to their music on an
unlimited number of iPods.

Short films from cartoon maker Pixar can
also be purchased. No TV clips are as yet
available.

I wonder how much the Pixar films are, they might be a fun way to show off
your video iPod. The new iTunes opened it's doors at 6 am Aussie time and within
seconds, the digital data began to flow. According to this report at The Age, a lot folks had been repeatedly trying to log on
since midnight. So what are they downloading down under? How about a little Missy
Higgins!
