developements in the file sharing world. The legal battle is heating up and it
looks like the days are numbered for file sharing of copyrighted material. The
online services are beginning to "hit the streets" in increasing numbers, but
like everything each of these services has it's strengths and weaknesses. In
recent news posts on the cdfreaks site, readers have indicated that they
may be open to a pay for track model of some sort. As long as the
conditions are right.
A few weeks ago, we posted news of a BETA product
called BluFilter: Authorize being developed by Kokopelli Networks. The
software uses already existing P2P applications such as Kazaa. It will allow an
artist (or label) to post his or her works to a P2P network. Sophisticated
copyright protection is provided and they can set a price
for their work themselves. The software also provides a
distribution of payment to all those involved including the network. Cdfreaks
readers gave some excellent feedback on that article with questions and
comments. So I went ahead and contacted Kokopelli to get some answers. This is
what they said.
