BenQ DW1620 now supports 16x writing of DVD-R

DigiTimes is reporting that the DW1620 released in June has been upgraded. 

BenQ has upgraded its DW1620 16x DVD Dual DL burner to include support for DVD disc writing of 16x DVD-R. BenQ launched the DW1620 at the end of June with writing speeds of 16x DVD+R and 8x DVD-R.

According to BenQ's Taiwan managing director Danny Yao, the upgraded DW1620 will be priced at NT,500 (US2) in the local market.

BenQ is doing very well it seems and has sold over 2 million units in the first half of this year. Monthly shipments, now at 600,000 should increase to one million units by the end of this year, totaling seven million units for the year according to company officials.
