Indiana cheers with the introduction of a new Blu-ray manufacturing plant, which creates 85 jobs for the western city of Terre Haute. Of course this is not the interesting part of the announcement, since the question rises why a new plant is needed. In a reaction Executive Chairman of Sony DADC Global says that the Blu-ray format is rapidly being adopted.
"The rapid adoption of the new Blu-ray Disc format by consumers allows us to quickly expand Blu-ray Disc capacity in the United States. Based on the past experience with manufacturing in Terre Haute, the selection of this facility for the expansion was logical. We are thrilled with the support of the State of Indiana," said Dieter Daum, Executive Chairman of Sony DADC Global to ThomasNet.
