Blubster 2.5 promises anonymous downloads for
its users. The music sharing service based in Spain has developed a new
technology that should protect its users from being traced by organisations like
the RIAA. The secure, decentralized network of Blubster has currently about 100.000
users connected any time and the users share over 20 million songs. The software
has support for both MP3 and Ogg Vorbis files, supports multi source
downloading, and support for web-links. The new secure transer system can best
be explained like this:
If other means of delivering media filescould be compared to a postal system with an identifiable sender and receiver, then Blubster's proprietary MP2P network could be likened to throwing a bottled message into the vast ocean," said Pablo Soto. "The message may get to a destination, but no one knows the full path of its journey nor what is in each bottle." |
The
software has been praised by many even before this release, but has a large
disadvantage. The software is bundeld with the much hated Gator software which
is considered one of the worst spyware applications available on the
internet. Make sure you can opt-out for this software. More information
and downloads can be found on the Blubster Website.
