According to a press release published at Sony, Sony Shiroishi Semiconductor Inc. has made preparations to reinforce production capacity of blue-violet laser production.
The current monthly production capacity is 1.7 million blue-violet laser diodes, but there is a rapid increase in the blue-violet laser diode demand, for use in devices such as Blu-ray disc (BD) players or game consoles.
Moreover, Sony Shiroishi scheduled to start mass production of high-power output 240mw diodes from November this year.
