By way of dvdwriters.co.uk I found this article reporting that in Sussex (UK) the police found bootleg DVDs worth 1.5 million pound.
Thousands of counterfeit DVDs and videos have been seized in Sussex after a year long operation by a specialist fraud squad. |
Police raided homes in Bexhill and Hastings, arresting five people for breach of copyright laws.
Many of the titles were new cinema releases
This haul of 20,000 DVDs, videos and software, now stashed safely in the vaults of Hastings police station, is estimated to be worth around £1.5 million. They were seized after raids on five homes in the Hastings area.
The investigation, which lasted a year, traced internet sites advertising cut price goods which turned out to be shoddy.
The site also has a video report that shows a lot of bootlegged DVDs. More information here.
