Today, we are pleased to announce an exclusive first look at the performance of a brand new DL media product from Ricoh Europe B.V Germany. Ricoh of course, is well known around the world as a global manufacturer of a variety of electronic equipment including; color printers, recordable optical drives and even digital cameras. Ricoh has generously offered CD Freaks Hardware Reviewer and Optical Drives Forum Moderator, Jan70, some samples of their very latest in optical media offerings, a DVD+R DL media that is capable of storing 8.5 GB at 8x recording speeds. With these speeds, it should be possible to write a complete disc in approximately 16 minutes.
In this first look article, Jan will test the performance of the media with a variety of 8x DVD+R DL writers. This will include testing it's compatibility with DVD standalone devices and other PC DVD devices.
