Reviewer Tor Magne has finished reviewing the BenQ 1640, the successor to the venerable BenQ 1620. The drive writes both +R/-R media at 16x, rewrites +RW media at 8x and -RW at 6x, the drive also features an impressive 8x +R dual layer dvd burning as well as 4x -R dual layer writing. Along with this the drive is updated support for SolidBurn technology, so even unrecognized media not stored in the drives firmware can be written with the correct writing strategy. The drive also supports overspeeding of media so media can be written at faster speeds than officially stated.

To sum it all up, this is the best we could say: 'An unpolished diamond, the drive performs excellent in almost every area and offers features that really puts it ahead of the competition" |
