It has been just over two months now since we presented our last BenQ review, the DW 1640. Now we take a look at the BenQ DW 1625, which is LightScribe capable for writing professional-looking labels to LightScribe Discs using the recorder itself. The drive is capable of 16x DVD+R, 8x DVD-R, 4x DVD±RW, 40x CD-R and 24x CD-RW recording. It supports up to 16x DVD and 40x CD read-back.
Like the
1640, this writer also ships with the BenQ's QSuite Application for performing
various diagnostics on media, changing a DVD+R/RW/DL's book type as well as WOPC for determining what is the maximum speed to produce good a quality recording. WOPC effectively allows a burn simulation to be made with any recording software (without physically writing anything to disc) to determine what maximum writing speed the disc is safely capable of handling.
