CD Freaks presents the NEC ND-4551A DVD-Writer Review

Since the early days of DVD writers, NEC has done very well in the DVD writer market and continues to be one of the leading brands of DVD writers on the market to this day.  Today we are proud to present a review of one of NEC's latest DVD writers, the ND-4551A.  This writer offers 16x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 8x DVD+R DL, 6x DVD-RW and 6x DVD-R DL writing speeds.  Like the NEC ND-4550A, this drive also supports DVD-RAM with read and write speeds of up to 5x.

However, what makes this stand out is its Labelflash capability.  Like LightScribe, Labelflash uses the drive's laser to 'burn' the image on the label side of the disc with the disc loaded upside-down in the tray.  While this drive requires Labelflash media to write burn an image on the label side, this drive also gives the ability to burn a label using the remaining unused space of the data side, so even without Labelflash media, one can still print a label on the data side of any DVD±R disc, so long as there is sufficient unused space on the disc to create a decent size label.

Our review coordinator Jan70 has just published his extensive review of this drive, including DVD-RAM, Labelfash and other advanced tests.  To see how this drive performs and how well its Labelflash tests come out, please head over to the review, which can be viewed here.  After you have a look, feel free to ask any questions or leave any comments about the review in this dedicated forum thread for the review.
