CD Freaks reviews: The Plextor USB powered PX-608CU burner

Today, it is our pleasure to announce the latest in reviews of optical drives, this time from staff member, Jan70. We have a very interesting product to share with you today, as it is to my knowledge, our first look at an external burner that is USB powered! This article covers the very portable, Plextor PX-608CU, which supports 8x DVD±R, 8x/6x DVD+RW/-RW, and 4x DVD+R DL/-R DL writing. Then, to add icing on the cake, this drive will also write to those cool DVD-RAM discs at 5x!

This drive is certainly cutting edge and according to Jan, it also features bit-setting ability, which gives any discs burned with this drive, good compatibility with existing set top DVD players.

So, is this a portable burner worth considering? Can a Plextor win our heart when it comes to DVD writing? Just how well can this thing operate on USB power? Well, to find out, all you have to do is hover and click here!

If you enjoy the review, or if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to visit our Club CD Freaks forums and say hi to Jan over there. He's set up a dedicated thread for discussion of this interesting piece of hardware and I know he/we would appreciate hearing from you!
