CMC, Ritek and Prodisc show DL DVD discs at Computex 2004

While Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (MKM) is the only manufacturer shipping DVD+R DL media so far (albeit in limited quantities) the largest Taiwanese manufacturers are now also preparing to start volume production of the discs according to Digitimes:

Top optical disc manufacturers inTaiwan, including CMC Magnetics, Ritek and Prodisc Technology, will be exhibiting 8.5GB single-sided double-layer (DL) DVD+R/-R discs at Computex 2004, taking place from June 1-5 in Taipei.

With volume production to begin in mid-June, the disc makers are sending sample products to potential clients for certification and they are hoping to land orders at the Computex 2004 show.

The complete article is available at Digitimes here. I wonder if they have got the details about DVD-R DL correct though since Pioneer said about a month ago that it doesn't plan to release DVD-R DL writers until year's end or the beginning of 2005, when the specifications have been approved by the DVD forum.
