CenDyne announces 24X FireWire CD-RW drive

Today CenDyne announces its new External FireWire 24X10X40 CD-RW drive. The new drive provides 24X writing speed, 10X CD-RW rewriting and 40X CD-ROM reading speed. It has a IEEE 1394 FireWire interface which u can use for your Mac, PC or laptop computer.

The CenDyne FireWire CD-RW drive was designed for users that want the quickest, most reliable performance available. The drive provides high-speed transfer rates of up to 400 Mbps -- up to 30 times faster than USB 1.0 connections. The new drive's 24X write speed saves users time by allowing them to write an entire 650MB disk in as little as four minutes. The 10X rewrite speed allows users to record data to inexpensive CDs for distributing to friends with CD-ROM drives. Additionally, the drive provides fast access to existing collections of CD-ROM media at a fast 40X, enhanced by an average access time of 120ms.

The CenDyne FireWire CD-RW is hot-swappable, so that users can disconnect the drive from one computer and connect to another without the need to power down or restart, making it a great device for both home and business users to share between multiple computers. As a result, the CenDyne FireWire 24X drive can be used as a complete solution to back up, duplicate or manage any multimedia applications. Additionally, the FireWire interface allows users to connect to multiple FireWire devices, such as printers or cameras, through a single FireWire port by having them ``daisy-chained'' or linked together end-on-end.

It includes Roxio's Toast (for the mac) and Nero/InCD 5.5 (for the PC). It will be available in mid-August for around $299.
