 BenQ has reduced the retail price of its DW1640, a 16x DVD Dual DL (single-sided double-layer) burner model, in the China market by 20% from 499 yuan (US$62) to 399 yuan (US$49), according to industry sources in Taiwan.
BenQ's price cut is intended primarily for
competition with Behavior Tech Computer (BTC), the sources indicated. Last
month, BTC launched a 16x DVD Dual DL burner model priced at 399 yuan, the
sources pointed out.BTC's 16x DVD Dual DL burner has a +R DL writing speed
of 2.4x whereas BenQ DW1640 has an 8x speed, the sources
