Club CD Freaks is the community part of CD Freaks, with over 20.000 daily visitors and 28.000 members it's one of the largest and most active optical storage related communities on the internet. Besides an enormous amount of problems and answers, it also excists of a large collection of documentation on all kinds of subjects related to CD-RW and DVD-RW.
Today one of our moderators, alexnoe, has added a FAQ about PC DVD recorders. The FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) gives a little basic information about DVD recording on the PC, but has a lot of information about issues with Pioneer related DVD-RW drives.
Usually it should not. Pioneer only allows 2x writing for media that they are satisfied with. However, there have been reports that some players reject 2x written media, but play the same media if it has been written at 1x, and there is also the possibility of getting bad batches of 2x compatible media, which might then not be reliable. You will have to try and find out on your own.
Not with official firmware. There is a "modified" firmware available which allows 2x writing to all discs, but you use that on your own risk. Don't complain if you get coasters then. You were the one to install it.
We stronly encourage you to add additional information in this forum, as we appreciate the help of our community members, afterall, we're here to help!
