Creative have released a new very compact Digital Audio Player, the Rhomba . This player features two LCD displays to make navigation very simple. The player also features a built in FM tuner and microphone. It is capable of recording off both sources.
One LCD display features a music visualiser and status symbols such as repeat, shuffle, battery and so on. The other LCD displays the song title, track number, play time and so on. For playback, the player features several graphic equaliser presets.
The player comes in 128MB and 256MB flash memory versions. It weighs only 1.8oz (51g). The 128MB flash version can store up to 8 hours of voice recordings, 2 hours of high quality MP3 (128kbps), 4 hours of medium quality WMA (64kbps) and double these figures for the 256MB flash version. It has a signal to noise ratio of up to 90dB. It comes with Creative MediaSource(TM) software which features CD ripping to MP3 & WMA and transferring between the player and the PC.

Creative have a good selection of MP3 players out now including CD MP3 players and hard drive based portable Jukeboxes. They also make various other products such as soundcards, CD/DVD ROM drives and so on. I have a SoundBlaster Audigy and its audio quality is excellent although I was not too impressed with their software drivers. The KX Project which is an excellent open source third party SoundBlaster series driver really shows what the Audigy is capable of 😉
The Creative Rhomba is now shipping and comes in two versions. 128MB version for US$ 149.99 and 256MB version for US$ 199.99.
