CyberLink introduces disc defragmentation for DVD media

Some of you might know the feature to defragment
your harddrive. This is used when pieces of data are widespread on the drive and
by defragmenting all data pieces are placed next to eachother, this should
improve reading speed. Now the same principle also works with Cyberlinks
PowerProducer 2.

Unlike
data files that only require limited storage space, video files have much
larger storage requirements.  As a result, when users try to re-edit
DVD titles, it's hard to store the new DVD segment due to limited free
space
and playback becomes intermittent because the files are in
different locations," said Eric Lin, Assistant Product Manager of
CyberLink.  "That's why we have included the disc defragmentation
functionality in PowerProducer 2."  The unique disc defragmentation
feature supports editable disc format on DVD +/- RW and has data reading
efficiency, maximizes free space usage and smoothens playback
quality.
