GristyMcFisty used our news submit to tell us that U.S. entertainment
company Walt Disney has said that they want to make their movies available online, despite the fears of movie piracy. Disney will become the sixth major studio to join the Movielink digital distribution service:
|
Disney had been holding out from joining the controversial Movielink system while working with Fox to develop its own service, an initiative that collapsed a few months ago. The company founded by Mickey Mouse's creator has also been strongly lobbying for congressional initiatives aimed at thwarting piracy as the company wrangled over the dangers of digital movie delivery. The addition of the Disney titles boosts Movielink's film catalogue to around 400 movies, compared to just 175 when it launched eight months ago. |
According to the article Disney will put 50 of its titles on Movielink, including titles such as Chicago, Gangs of New York, The Recruit, 25th Hour, Monsters, Inc. and The Jungle Book 2.
