DivX and SnapStream form partnership for PVR use

DivXNetworks, creator of the
patent-pending DivX video compression technology and SnapStream Media, developer
of digital entertainment products, announced a partnership to bring DivX video
to SnapStream Personal Video Station, a personal video recording (PVR)
software.

The software called Personal Video Station 3.3,
will enable users to compress and playback television shows in high-quality DivX
video directly on their PCs. The two companies are going to market the
DivX-powered Personal Video Station to the global community of millions of DivX
users. DivX video compression technology is a hugely popular video encoder /
decoder due to the reduction in encoded video file size with little loss of
picture quality. DivX technology has become the de facto standard, with more
than 100 million downloads and an average of more than 4 million downloads per
month.

"The SnapStream Personal Video Station is one of the
most powerful and versatile PVR products on the market. It brings the
power of personal video recording to PC users, and with the addition of
DivX video consumers can capture and view their favorite television shows
in the highest visual quality," said Jordan Greenhall, co-founder and CEO
of DivXNetworks, Inc.

"DivX
video provides incredible visual quality and great compression ratios,
enabling our users to easily compress and store their favorite television
shows on their PCs," said Rakesh Agrawal of SnapStream. "We're excited to
work with the most popular MPEG-4 video technology on the market to make
our award-winning TV recording software an even better solution for the
ultimate home entertainment PC. We look forward to reaching the global
DivX community of videophiles and technology enthusiasts who could benefit
greatly from a product like the easy-to-use Personal Video
Station."
