On the German IT-News's site golem.de we found an article indicating that Doom 3 has been causing massive P2P-activity. As expected, before the actual launch of Doom 3, thousand's of PC are connected to the P2P networks. Sharing this illegal copy of Doom 3.

Doom 3 publisher (Activision Germany) may be lucky in one respect. The reason being is, that most German broad band users have a smaller upstream- than downstream rate. And it is speculated that for most users; the download will not be completed in time before the official launch hits the stores in Germany. As soon as the first copyies are burned on CD's or DVD and shared among Doom fans, the publisher hopes that these copies are used as a "demo" before the launch in the stores. For those without an illegal copy or original import; it is possible to check how the pc will perform on Doom 3. HardOCP is one option to use, and with the help from Hardware-Guides you can check what kind of performance the game will have on your PC. Doom 3 is going to hit the German stores officially on the 12th of August 2004. The retail price has not been published yet, but in German online stores you can get it (shipping not included) from 44,- EUR to around 60,- EUR. Even though the game is rated in Germany for 18 years and up, no proof of age is requested. The import version of Doom 3 has not been labeled by German sensor law. |
