Dutch University big distributor of warez

The (Dutch) University of Twente has posted a real story about one of their students that has been busted by the Dutch Copyright Authorities. It's a rather large story, so forgive me for not translating it.

But in the article it is told that in the Netherlands the University of Twente was known wide for their fast connection. Every room could be connected with 100Mb to the internet and this was fast found out by warez groups.

The story tells about a student that logged in to IRC, and a while later this actual conversation took place (found in his Mirc logs):

Humbert: sup?

Haze: not much... why?

Humbert: cuz maybe u would be interested in warez, thats why.

Haze: i might be... why?

Humbert: hehe, why... i can get ya warez... lots of... on nice ftps. i need a linux box connected to your fast link - simple, eh?

Haze: i don't run linux, i run windows.

Humbert: no problem... i can supply the computer to run linux on... for free...

Haze: what for do you need it?

Humbert: all i'm gonna use it for is uploading and downloading basically. thats all. if u run a linux box for us, we use your hdd space, and your connection speed for storing and trading warez.

Haze: yeah right ... but whats in it for me?

Humbert: your benefit is, that you have all warez, every program, every movie, every mp3, every game that u want.

Haze: but thats illegal.

Humbert: yep, hehehe... but its also fun. and by the way: there's like 1000000000 people from student.utwente.nl that's doing warez! So join in.

Haze: sounds cool...

A while later a van stopped at the campus and 2 guys stepped out, they gave him a brand new PC connected it to the internet and they were gone. The PC used over 125 GB of traffic every week

He was also given an username and password and with these he was able to access a lot of sites to download whatever he wanted.

This might sound heaven to some of you, I think it's something to think about, warez is getting more and more professional. In the Netherlands there is already someone killed for Playstation copies.
