In a forum post , Mr.Belvedere made us aware about an article posted by the Dutch PC magazine PC-Active about the organisation that is responsible for collecting the Dutch copyright levies called 'Stichting Thuiskopie'. According to the article, this organisation has tried to sell large numbers of discs which had been seized. While you would expect that this would just be rumours, it has really happened and the the organisation has confirmed that it was indeed trying to find out if there were stores interested in purchasing the discs from the organisation at normal market prices.
The magazine has send questions to the Dutch Justice Department about the organisation that is disliked by many computer users in the Netherlands. The organisation has contributed to the fact that Dutch media prices were brought to new heights due to a levy of 1 EURO (~$1.25) per DVD-R disc and 0.5 EURO on a DVD+R disc (Yes a piece, not per 100). Therefor many Dutch people are purchasing in other countries such as Luxembourgh something the organisation is now trying to prevent with legal actions.
