brantdk used our news submit to tell us that P2P.net is grabbing numbers from Big Champagne and creating one of those popular Top Ten lists. However, this one is for the illegal swapping of copyrighted works! I just want to let everyone know real quick, that we are not saying this is a good idea. In fact, if you visit our P2P forum at all, you can read that people are being warned by their ISP that the MPAA has reported their IP numbers as ones that they have caught downloading movies. The ISP has even shut down their connection until the customer signs a paper stating that they will stop this activity, until then it's cold turkey on your Internet access.
Having said that, it is interesting to read the stats of the users out there and what content is hot at the moment. Apparently, this will become a weekly posting on the P2P.net website.
Shoot, where's "Meet the Fockers"? I guess that hasn't hit the net yet. We wont post this top ten every week of course, but at least this once it's interesting to see the order and the numbers for the US versus global stats. We can also see that even with the combination of huge file sizes, and the ongoing battle between the pirates and the MPAA, even with BitTorrent trackers taking it in the shorts, that the activity is still way out of control. I'm curious also, after reading these titles, if the majority of these scofflaws are of the male gender. I think so!
