Fujitsu unveils world's fastest 2.5" 160GB HDD

Fujitsu has unveiled the world's first 2.5" 7,200RPM spindle 160GB hard disk targeted at high performance laptops and flat panel desktop PCs. 

This disk, model MHW2160BJ features 3.0Gb/s Serial ATA, giving a burst transfer rate of up to 300MB/s, a very low noise level of 25dB when idle and a maximum power consumption of just 2.3 watts when reading and writing. 

The drive features performance on par with a 3.5" desktop PC equivalent.

Fujitsu expects this drive to become available globally at the end of May 2007 and has a 1.6 million unit sales target by the end of the year.
