German conservative party (CDU) commits copyright violation

Tru used our news submit to tell us "This is hilarious: The conservative party in Germany wants to prohibit private copies by law and to make a more restrictive copyright laws, but fails to respect copyright temselves."

The Rolling Stones have expressed surprise and disappointment at the use of the 1973 hit. "We didn"t grant permission," said a spokesman for the band, who start their 31st global tour in Boston tonight."We are surprised that permission was not requested. If it had been, we would have said no."

Hmm, Sir Mick and the boys certainly aren't the kind to promote a political party of any kind! At least I hope this is why they refuse to allow use of their music for this purpose.  Taking sides in politics is a good way to lose fans. Heh, we have to wonder if they will stick it to the party for all they are worth. 🙂 Let's hope so and also let's hope that they donate the proceeds to those that are in need in this world.
