HardExtreme Argentina has a review on the Ricoh MP7200. This drive writes at 20 speed, rewrites at 10 speed and reads at 40 speed. It also makes use of the JustSpeed technology, developed by Ricoh.
It means that the drive checks the type of disc in use and then adjusts the writing speed to an optimal level between 12x and 20x when writing at high speed.

Conclusion: Some more things that I tested was the reading quality of this unit. It was incredibly good also. It can read perfectly to a very old CD that I have, and the same situation to my another striped CD. |
This unit, I can say that it is almost perfect in it's hardware. But there is something that I didn't like very much. It's the manual. The content of the manual was really poor. I think a guy that doesn't have experience with recorders, it will be imposible for him to make it work just following the manual. I also didn't like it very much when I read that it is a "Made in China" stuff .... it's just a personal opinion ... hehe.
Another thing that I felt incredible more than its speed was, how does it do to heat so little? it doesn't even have a cooler like Plextor 16x does! Anyway, I highly recomend this unit to the people who always want speed, speed and more speed in his computer. Because this unit is really fast!I t is a very fast unit as a writer, a re-writer or even a reader.
The article lacks to say if the drive is capable of writing and reading in RAW mode.
