An interesting article published at Ars Technica made me think about how much annoying are majors regarding DRM. In this article, a brief introduction on content protections systems is given, and from the start is clear that there is always someone able to break these protections (including this latest one also, HDCP).
This forces entertainment industry to search for more robust solutions, but it's not a so easy task because new techniques always require extensive tests. Reading the aforementioned article, it seems that majors are using end-consumers as beta-testers for their "unbreakable" systems.
So, other than impose these useless (and very costly) systems, they are also using end-consumers as cavies for their experimentations? Is it really so difficult to understand that the only way to destroy piracy is by lowering prices?
