The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI)'s Swedish language web site has been hacked, despite half of the charges against The Pirate Bay being dropped during the trial that is currently underway in Sweden.
After taking down the legitimate IFPI web site, the following message was posted on IFPI's Swedish web site:
Stop lying HÅKAN ROSWALL!
The ruthless hunt conducted by the IFPI, Anti-Piracy Office, Warner Bros., and all the other companies with a pawn in the game has now resulted in a trial in which four innocent men are accused of copyright infringement.
This is a declaration of war against anti-piracy and the industry players behind it, and we urge the public to boycott and lynch those responsible. IFPI is just a beginning. To be Continued.
Hakan Roswall is the lead prosecuting attorney in the trial against The Pirate Bay, and has obviously angered quite a few European file sharers. The message was up for almost 60 minutes before it was removed, with the site currently, as of 4:30 p.m. PST, down for maintenance.
The "To be continued" at the end of the post means the IFPI may have to be prepared for further hacking attempts in the future. Although authorities sometimes aren't in a hurry to catch hackers who deface web sites, the hacker's message for the public "to boycott and lynch those responsible" could draw severe police scrutiny.
