Intel and Bertelsmann team up in file sharing venture

Looks like Intel and German media mogul Bertelsmann are about to join hands in marriage! The two tech giants are looking to cooperate in a new technology for sharing film, music clips and games from the Internet. Intel will provide the chips of course for PC's and even phones, while Bertelsmann will provide a new online media file-sharing platform courtesy of their services. The two giants are looking to cash in on the publics ever growing desire for digital goods via the 'Net.

"One of the major environmental changes in the electronics industry is this convergence -- a combination of computing, communications and content," Intel Chief Executive Craig Barrett told Reuters in an interview on Wednesday.

"This thing we call the digital home really is the combination of all three of those things."

The deal represents a surprising alliance between two of the largest players in the media and technology industries, which have clashed in recent years because consumers have used cutting-edge products to copy billions of movies and songs without paying for them.

Yes, thanks for the news flash! But all kidding aside, this is just the ticket we need to help prevent any Supreme Court decisions that could hinder such forward thinking. Leave these technologies alone until they have a chance to grow.

Let's
just hope they get wind of this up on Capitol Hill, this will be a driving force behind the fight to keep file sharing legal. This is because at some point, these startups will have to show a legitimate use for such apps or they could be crushed if a high percentage of the use is illegal.
