LSI Logic Corporation, a leader in multimedia
processing for the Digital Home, today announced that JVC (Victor Company of
Japan, Limited) has selected the LSI Logic DiMeNsionTMsingle-chip DVD recorder
system processor for its latest line of single- and combination-drive DVD
recorders, DR-M1, DR-MF1, DR-MV1, and DR-MH5. JVC adopted DiMeNsion processors
for their market-leading features and product flexibility, which allowed JVC to
deliver a variety of products, such as standalone DVD recorders, combination
VHS/DVD recorders, and combination hard disk drive (HDD)/DVD recorders. The
products are expected to be available in Europe (DR-M1 and DR-MV1) and Japan
(DR-MF1 and DR-MH5).

Based on the flexible LSI Logic
DoMiNoTMarchitecture, the DiMeNsion family is comprised of the industry's first
single-chip DVD recorder system processors that reduce cost, design complexity,
and time-to-market through its high level of system integration, and delivers a
rich feature-set and high-quality video.

The JVC models record on DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and DVD-R

Direct Digital DubTMtechnology that simplifies the transfer of personal digital
content from a camcorder to DVD over FireWire, with one-touch control via a
single remote. The JVC combination HDD/DVD recorder model (DR-MH5, with a
built-in 120 GB hard disk drive) is ideal for consumers seeking all-in-one home
entertainment device because it makes it easy for consumers to manage, playback
and archive a variety personal content in the comfort of the living

Additional advantages of the DiMeNsion family
include an integrated DV codec, fifth-generation MPEG A/V codec technology
(PerfectViewTMPro), and innovative video processing technologies like
TrueScanTMPro and TrueViewTMPro, which provide Visibly Superior video quality.
The DMN-8600 also performs all audio processing tasks, supporting, among other
things, industry-standard Dolby Digitalencoding and decoding, DTS decoding, 3D
audio effects, and bass management functions.
