KDE 3.0 has gone final

Although not entirely CD Freaks related, I felt a need to report that KDE (yes, the Linux window-thingie) has gone final today. Although this hasn't been affirmed yet at kde.org, the final release was to be found on their FTP server.

Unfortunately, the FTP got overloaded and they nailed it down. Luckily enough, some mirrors are available: here (many distro's but no Redhat) and here (Mandrake).

What all the exact changes are, I don't know yet. All I know is that memoryusage and stability where the main issues for KDE 3.0. Although this does sound more like a minor update than a new version, I guess quite some work has been done, problems have been fixed and things have been made better!

I'm looking forward to see how KDE 3.0 is going to perform and to be liked with the people. Myself, I am more a GNome user who's looking forward to GNome 2.0, but that's another question.

Credits go to TK for emailing me this!
