Alien_X used our news submit to let us know that despite Kazaa Lite's website being shutdown due to legal issues, development still continues while there is little sign of it on the web. Kazaa Lite's most current release is version 2.60 release candidate 2 at the time of writing. This shows that legal threats and website closure does not stop its developers from trying to offer the public a clean lightweight version of Kazaa with extra useful features. Alien_X wrote "well this took a long time didn't it?"
Breaking News all over the net is that Kazaa Lite 2.60 is not only being developed, but a release candidate has been issued. Rumor is that Random Nut is back and has developed a little executable program called KLR.EXE. (Kazaa Lite Revolution) The many benefits of this program include launching the Kazaa client without many of the processor eating dll files. Others have takent this file and incorporated it with a clean version of Kazaa 2.60 along with many of the tools to enhance the program. The most likely reason I can see for Kazaa Lite being attacked by Sharman is the result of the RIAA illegally using it instead of the bloated version to track down who is sharing what files. It seems like the RIAA are not even that keen on using ad-ware products themselves. For example, despite iMesh being the 2nd most downloaded file sharing application off CNet, we have only heard of the RIAA trying to take legal action against iMesh themselves, but no word about them suing individual users of the iMesh network. iMesh is full of ad sponsored software and there is no light version from what I'm aware of.
