anti-riaa.com used our newssubmit to point us to an article about the expanding Korean MP3 player market. Major electronics outlets and distributors estimate that about 130,000 MP3 players were sold during the first quarter of this year, up from around 60,000 units in the year-earlier period.
The first quarter 300.000 units were exported against 200.000 units the same period last year.
Students are now embracing MP3 players to enjoy free-of-charge trendy music and study English through language education Web sites. Although there are other multimedia file formats, those who study English prefer downloading MP3 files of major news and programs to practice their listening skills.
Analysts and manufacturers also project that the domestic market will grow to more than 350,000 units this year, if this bullish trend continues.
Prices are dropping, sizes are getting smaller and more functions (like voice recording) are being added. Hmm I still don't have one (not counting my 4 year old 64 mb MP-Man player which is really really old)... any advice?
