LG Electronics has announced three new Blu-ray drives today. The LG BE06 is an external USB 2.0 Blu-ray, comes with a DC power adapter and is able to record DVD-R/+R discs at 16x. It can playback a BD-R at 6x and BD-RE at 2x.
The GBC-H20L model is able to read 6x BD-R and 2x BD-RE as well and can also record 40x to a CDRW.
The GBW-H20L can write to BD-R at 6x and 2x to a BD-RE. It can handle up to 50GB of data, equivalent to around 4.5 hours of high-definition video or 22 hours of standard-definition video. It also features 6x BD-R/2x BD-RE read and write compatibility and 16x DVD+RW/-RW recording speeds.
All models also support SecurDisc capabilities, which provide
data protection and content access control on all current optical formats,
and LightScribe technology, which enables consumers to create
direct-to-disc labels right from their drive.
The BE06 has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $379.95. The GBC-H20L and the GBW-H20L carry manufacturer's suggested retail prices of $199.95 and $279.95 respectively.
