CanadaComputes.com has an article about Lacies latest DVD-R/DVD-RW/CD-RW combo drive. This drive is actually a a Pioneer drive capable of writing to a number of different formats, including DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R and CD-RW.
The drive connects to your computer using FireWire is able to write DVD's at 2 speed, rewrite at 1 speed and read at 4 speed. Besides that it writes CD-R's at 8 speed, rewrites CDRW's at 4 speed and reads CD's at 24 speed:
The drive installed easily on our system. We plugged it into the FireWire port and the PC automatically recognized that a DVD drive was attached to the system. Installation of the appropriate drivers and software was quick and easy. |
While the drive is compatible with Apple's DVD Studio Pro and Toast Titanium, our drive came with two DVD software titles, Prassi's PrimoDVD DVD-burning utility and Sonic's MyDVD authoring software. The bundle also featured CyberLink's PowerDVD playback software. Though they take a bit of work to learn (MyDVD especially), they have everything you need to make your own DVDs.
More information on this multi functional drive can be found on this (tiny) article on CanadaComputes.com.
