During a Dutch exhibition a Dutch company has announced the Lamabox. According to the company this is the first media player with full Peer to Peer (p2p) support which can be connected to the TV and the internet and play and download movies and music.
The
Lamabox supports Edonkey, Bittorrent, Kazaa (FastTrack), Gnutella and Overnet. The Lamaxbox can play everything available on the internet. This is not limited to p2p but it also offers the possibility to listen to internet radio and watch internet TV.
For the p2p part the box uses p2pspider which can be trained to give better search results by giving scores to the search results.
The price of a normal Lamabox (400 series) with 40 GB HDD is 279 EURO (~$300). The Lamaxbox 420 has a DVD Burner and sells for 329 EURO. The 820 model has a 200 GB HDD and a DVD Burner and can yours for 379 EURO. Last but not least, the Lamabox 900 has a 400 GB HDD and a DVD Burner and sells for 479 EURO. It should become available at the end of November 2005.
