Lead Data heads to China



If you like Lead Data CD-R's then you don't have to worry about your favorite brand. As other CD-R manufacturers had some problems, Lead Data seems to be doing very well.

The supplier of Maxwell and Sony is planning to expand to China where the government is trying to liberalize the domestic market for blank CD-R discs. Lead Data has also paid the license fees to Philips



Lead Data will join a growing number of Taiwan-based CD-R disc manufacturers '“ Ritek, CMC Magnetics and Prodisc Technology '“ that have made mainland development a major agenda.

The company sent employees to inspect suitable factory sites at the beginning of 2001. Lead Data looked at sites from Beijing down to Suzhou, Jiangsu Province and east to Shanghai. The final location will be announced at the next board of directors meeting.

Over 90% of Lead Data's shipments go to Sony and Maxell. After the company builds new facilities in China, it plans to seek orders from other companies, lessening its dependence on Sony and Maxell and
