According to former Microsoft employees Linux is the future. Although they're mainly speaking about the server parts of Win2k and Linux they think Linux's got quite some steps ahead of Windows (no matter what version).
Eric Engstrom was one of a number of key management who departed as the MS anti-trust trial wore on. He started and led the Direct X project, was general manager at MSN, and testified on behalf of the Evil Empire in the trial. |
Engstrom encourages both performance and price/performance comparisons between Linux running Chromium's Apache accelerator and Microsoft's Internet Information Server [IIS].
"It's a mistake to think of IIS as free," he says. "Parts of it are bundled, but a Windows license is still $1200."
Well I always liked Linux better (I know it's still a little buggy but I can live with that) than Windows but this sure sounds nice. Imagine: more companies investing into Linux (like IBM etc are already doing). That will mean a really good and stable product! For free... copy as much as you want... no judges deciding what software comes which it and which not etc..... sounds really good
